Blog Questions Challenge
I saw a post from Brandon about a blog questions challenge doing the rounds on Bearblog and figured, even though I'm not on Bearblog, I'd do my own. 🙃
Proudly ruining the web since 2013.

First day back to school/work tomorrow. The kids did NOT like being forced awake at 7am this morning to get them ready for tomorrow. 😂
I really hate the dark version of my site. I'm thinking about removing it completely and going light only, but don't want to burn people's retinas at night. I suppose there's always reader mode for them... 🤔
Ok, so I just watched The Godfather. Yeahhhh it's pretty good.
Some thoughts from me about virtue signalling and why I think it's a pointless exercise.
I knew SQLite was a cool project, but this great post show how interesting the project is.
Just looking at Manton’s new Micro.one service and I don’t understand it.
It looks like Micro.blog, less the cross-posting stuff, for the same price. Colour me utterly confused. What am I missing?
Been in bed since 10pm on #NewYearsEve and that’s perfect. 👌
I think that's the closest I've ever come to running out of fuel. The car stopped reporting miles remaining around 8 miles from home. 🫣
Managed to limp it home just about though.

As I did in 2023, here's my app defaults at the end of 2024. ⚠️ Spoiler - not much has changed.
Love a winter walk in the hills. The views are beautiful. 😂

Today I need to:
Take the dogs for a walk
Service the lawn mowers
But I can't be arsed doing anything. I always get really lazy and lose motivation when I have extended periods of time off work (I've been off for a week at this point).
God help me when I retire!
The 3rd book in the Ian M Banks' Culture series. I really couldn't get into this one, so abandoned it half way through.
Since playing around with Android and trying to get some self-hosted services running, I've been thinking about the costs of self-hosting. Ironically, I think the cost to my wallet is the least of them.
Mentioned recently that my iPad was on its last legs after nearly 6 years of faithful service. So started thinking about a replacement. I only use it for reading RSS and some YouTube before bed. Instead of looking for a replacement, I just decided to stop watching YT before bed, and read RSS on my phone. 🤷♂️
Now I pick-up my Kindle instead, which is far better than watching crap on YT.
Out of office is on, work phone is switched off, and that's me for 2024! Merry Christmas, all! 🎉
Well this doesn't look good. 🫣
I hope to find the time, energy, and money to reopen all of this sometime in the new year.
"Sometime in the new year" doesn't sound like a holiday break to me.
You know what would be great? If websites stopped embedding links from fucking #Twitter.
Because, you know, the billions of people on this earth that don't have Twitter accounts can't see the post...
Nah, I think you're good thanks, Alex.

I recently had a great email exchange with Herman Martinus of BearBlog fame and wanted to talk about that a little bit more.
